Dancewear is required for ALL classes. There are no exceptions. Being dressed properly will enable the instructor to correct body placement. It also allows students to feel equally part of a group. The Dress code is as follows and will be enforced:
CREATIVE MOVEMENT, DANCE BASICS & COMBO CLASSES - leotard, pink tights, pink soft leather, ballet shoes, and black leather mary jane tap shoes for those enrolled in basics and combo classes.
BALLET - leotard, pink tights, hair neatly secured away from face (bun is preferred). Pink canvas, split-sole ballet shoes. Ballet skirts are permitted for class. Ballet warm-ups ie. leg warmers, shaws are permitted. No T-Shirts or baggy clothing is permitted at any point during class.
JAZZ - No pants, t-shirts or baggy clothing after warm-up is permitted. Tan jazz shoes (see instructor). Hair neatly secured away from face and off neck.
TAP - See instructor about shoes. Hair neatly secured away from face away from face and off neck.
HIP-HOP- See instructor for dress code. Knee pads are optional. Hair must be neatly secured away from face and off neck. Clean, streak-free, black sneakers for shoes.
CONTEMPORARY- Dancers will dance barefoot or can use tan, half-soles. Hair must be neatly secured and away from the face.
COMPETITIVE GROUPS - Starting Fall of 2018, all competitive groups will be required to wear black on Wednesday night rehearsals and technique classes. There's no specific required leotard, but it must be black. For any clarification, ask Kayela.
In Motion Dance Company does not carry medical insurance for its students. It is required that all dance students be covered by their own family insurance policies and if injury occurs it is understood that the student's own policy is your only source of reimbursement.
There are certain risks that are inherent in any dance activity. Each In Motion Dance Company member, guest, or nonmember participant agrees to accept personal responsibility for his or her safety. IMDC cannot ensure the safety on any participants. In participating at IMDC activities, each such person agrees to hold harmless and free of blame the instructors, and the IMDC it's officers and members, for any accident, injury, lost or damaged property, or illness that which might be sustained from their participation. Pictures or video taken during performances and class time may be used for publicity purposes in newspapers, brochures, website, etc.
