Dance is a discipline. Part of that discipline comes from the dress code. When a student appears in uniform with their hair neatly done, they realize they are ready to invest their time in learning a skill. The dress code makes it easier for the teacher to see muscle technique and to correct choreography mistakes.
Safety in dance requires hair be secured and out of the dancer's eyes. Hair/bangs that are not secured can flip and injure the eye of the dancer or people around them. Long hair can throw off the center of balance in a dancer.
Proper dance shoes are instrumental to proper technique, and to the health of our dancers. Proper shoes also preserve the life of our Marley dance floors. Marley floors are an expensive investment we have made to provide the best and safest dance surface available.
We prefer split sole pink canvas ballet shoes for all of our Ballet dancers, levels A through Advanced. These cannot be purchased locally, but can be ordered from Miss Amanda please e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org for any needed purchases. Please do not purchase the shiny ballet like slippers at K-mart, Wal-Mart or Shopko. They are slippery even on the Marley; they fall off, are dangerous, and are not permitted on our dance floor for safety reasons.
We ask that all of dancers invest in a nude leotard. This helps with quick costume changes and helps the student feel more comfortable when needing to change. It also helps those students who may have sensitive skin. These can be purchased by Miss Amanda as well. It takes at least two weeks to receive and order so please be sure to give Miss Amanda enough time to order.

They can check from time to time so you do not have to come in, but I do not want them out back.
