Code of Conduct
The Dream Centre is a family friendly environment with students of all ages. Respect, kindness and encouragement is required of all our students, teachers and parents. No horseplay, rough housing or bullying will be tolerated. Inappropriate language and derogatory comments and behaviour will not be allowed. Students that do not adhere to this will be asked to leave the class until their behavior is corrected. Parents will be notified if their child is misbehaving or causing a disruption during class.
Punctuality and Supervision of Students
Students are to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their class and are to be picked up no later than 10 minutes after their class. Younger students arriving early must be supervised. It is the parent's responsibility to ensure that their children are picked up from inside The Dream Centre. No child will be released on their own accord. For early dismissal, parents must make prior arrangements and come to the door to pick up their child. This is a matter of safety.
Missed classes will not be made up and no refunds shall be issued. Cancelled classes (outside of statutory holidays) will be rescheduled accordingly unless the cancellation is weather related, weather related cancellations will not be made up. Once registered, student class placement is considered reserved for the season. Fees will not be refunded once a one month term begins. The Dream Centre requires at least 30 days notice of a class cancellation, there will absolutely be no refunds given beyond this point. In the case of a withdrawal from a program, The Dream Centre should be notified via email immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org. Until such time, the space will be held for the student and charges invoiced to the parents or guardians accordingly.
Students will arrive dressed according to the class dress code with all necessary hair accessories and shoes. Hair is to be worn back off the face for all classes. A list of each program: Recreational Dance, Gymnastics, Martial Arts and the corresponding dress code required can be found on thedreamcentre.ca website at the top of each program description. Please no outside shoes in the front lobby, studios, hallways or gymnasium.
Parents/Guardians must make an appointment to speak with a teacher through our main office. Out of respect for students who are waiting for their class to begin, we ask that parents and students do not approach teaching staff between classes. Please direct all questions and concerns to The Dream Centre Directors. Any class communications regarding inclement weather, class reminders, and other administrative matters will be done via our online email system. Please be sure that these email addresses are not blocked by your email server. Also it is up to the family registering to ensure that that communication email you provide at registration via the customer portal is accurate and valid as this is the email we will be using for communication purposes.
Fee Schedule/NSF fees/Late Payment Charge
Our regular season includes 36 weeks of classes between Sept and June. The fees for the season are set to a schedule of 10 equal payments between September 1st-June1st. Due to statutory holidays, Mondays have 2 less classes between September and June. In order to make up the 2 Monday classes necessary to complete our curriculum, The Dream Centre has added on two additional Monday classes during the first two Mondays in June.
Any and all fees for the Season are due on specific dates set out to you in advance. Failure to follow TDC's payment schedules will result in a $25 late payment fee. Failure to pay Competitive entry fees or costumes in full before the first competition weekend may result in the dancer(s) not being allowed to participate. NSF Credit Card and Bank Draft Transactions will result in a $25 administrative fee.
A $10 administrative fee will apply to any transaction that needs to be refunded at the request of a client.
Enrollment and Registration Fee
All enrollments will be reviewed and then applicable fees will be posted to your account for processing. Registration fees for a session are processed within 1 to 3 days of registering, and the first tuition fee of a given session will be processed on the 1st of the month in which the session begins. Applicable discounts will be applied as well. A $30 registration fee applies to each student registered during our regular season. Just to bring some clarity to the purpose of a registration fee, aside from monthly dance fees which cover the cost of dance classes and teacher's wages. Registration fees include: Invoicing for costuming, deposits, photo orders, dvd orders, administrative wages, props for classes and re-stocking, information packages emailed out during the course of a season. It also covers your dancer's insurance, music license fees and studio communication costs. Also, with the efficient systems we have set in place they help to keep the cost of monthly tuition fees lower.
Recreational Costume Deposit and Recital Tickets
A $50 costume deposit will apply to each recreational dance routine that performs in our year end recital, this fee will be posted on January 1st. There are no refunds issued after January 1st. Additional fees may be incurred if the costume is already partially or fully completed. The average final price of a rec recreational costume can range between $60-90+hst, or more. The cost for Recital tickets can change from year to year and typically total $30, discounts apply to children ages 2 and under.
Use of Photos/Videos
The Dream Centre has my permission to use photographs, and/or video recordings of my child for web pages and other promotional materials produced, used by and representing The Dream Centre.
Competitive Team Contract and Information
Competitive team members must participate in team building/goal setting class as scheduled as part of their curriculum. All Competitive dancers are considered to be on a Team Dedication Assessment Period between the September 1st and December 31. If The Dream Centre Director and Faculty feel that a student and/or family is not keeping up to the expectations of their Team with respect to skill, attendance, attitude, etc. the student may be removed from the particular Team. Choosing to drop and/or being removed from a Team may result in a minimum charge of $200 to that particular family to cover the cost of re-choreographing routines and administrative tasks that arise as a result of these changes. Costume deposits are $100 per routine and will be due Sept 15th and Oct 31st (two payments of 50%) Payment of costumes ordered will be the responsibility of the purchaser (parent/guardian). In the case of injury and/or missed classes, make-up classes will have to be scheduled at an additional fee. The number of these classes required will be at the teacher's discretion. If a competitive dancer misses more than 3 classes in the months leading up to competitions, showcase, recital, etc., he or she may not be able to participate even if costumes have been ordered and/or paid for. Do not book vacations during regularly scheduled classes. Teamwork is a must! Any student missing any class for any reason must notify our main office. All competitive students must participate in competitive showcase, recital, and any other event that the Director deems necessary. All Competitive dancers, current and new, must attend our Summer Dance Intensive and audition in order to be considered for any Competitive Teams.
I/we realize that participation in dance, and/or gymnastics, and/or martial arts classes and activities could involve some possible personal injury. Despite precautions, accidents and injuries may occur. By signing this release form, I/we (the student(s) and parent/guardian) assume all risks related to the use of any and all spaces used by The Dream Centre.
I/we agree to release and hold harmless The Dream Centre, including its teachers, dancers, staff members, and facilities used by both entities from any cause of action, claims, or demands now and in the future. I/we will not hold The Dream Centre liable for lost or stolen personal belongings, any personal injury, or any personal property damage, which may occur on the premises before, during or after classes. Furthermore, I/we agree to obey the class and facility rules and take full responsibility for my/our behavior in addition to any damage I/we may cause to the facilities utilized by The Dream Centre.
I understand that The Dream Centre is a licensed, accredited and insured organization. In the event that I/we should observe any unsafe conduct or conditions before, during or after my/our classes, I/we agree to report the unsafe conduct or conditions to the Executive Director, Artistic Director, instructor or staff member as soon as possible.
