Studio Information and Policies
CLASS CANCELLATIONS
In the event of inclement weather, the studio will close during this time for your safety.
Cancellations will be determined by 2:00 p.m. of the day in question. Please check our
website at www.khdanceworks.com or call the studio. Classes are not necessarily
canceled when school has been canceled. Kim Hohman's DanceWorks has no control
over the weather, two cancellations per night may be made before classes will be made
up.
CLASSROOM ATTIRE
All students must wear proper dance attire and appropriate shoes. Hair is to be secured
away from the face. The teacher must be able to see the dancer's body to enable correct
alignment and placement of the dancer. Boys should wear t-shirt and shorts, no jeans.
NO unnecessary jewelry should be worn. Absolutely no street shoes are to be worn on
the dance floor.
PARENT OBSERVATION
We will have special classroom visits for parents. We will let you know when these will
be held.
HOLIDAYS
The studio will only be closed for Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break.
ATTENDANCE
Attendance is taken at each class and recognition is given at the end of the year for
dancers not missing any classes (students can miss two classes due to a school program
or family obligation and still be recognized). Good attendance is imperative, as absences
and tardiness can hold back the entire class. Please make every effort to have your child
at every class.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Class size and level will be determined by the teacher during the first several weeks, it
may be necessary for your child to be switched to a different class. You will be notified if
we think this is in the student's best interest. Please arrive only 10 minutes before class
and pick your student up promptly after class. We cannot be responsible for children left
unattended outside the dance rooms. Students are to wait inside the lobby for their ride.
No gum or candy is permitted in the classrooms. All drinks and food are to be kept in the
dining area. Be sure to label all belongings with student's name. We cannot be
responsible for lost or stolen items.
**As a courtesy to our parents, a monthly newsletter will be posted on our website,
www.khdanceworks.com the first full week of classes each month. Please read these
for important information. Paper copies will be available at the front desk.
Recital Information
RECITAL
The Recital and rehearsals will be held at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center, recital and rehearsal times will be announced at a later date. Please refer to the
monthly newsletters for more information. A recital handbook will be available closer to
the recital.
COSTUMES
We try our best to keep your costume costs down. If your child is in more than one dance
in the recital, you can count on $60 - $70 per costume. Cost may go slightly higher for
competition dancers and older dancers. There are also other items you will need to
purchase such as tights, ribbons, gloves, make-up, and sometimes alterations. Creative
Movement classes will only have one costume. A costume fundraiser is held in the fall.
This is optional, but for many it covers most of the fees.
COSTUME DEPOSIT
We require a $35 costume deposit per costume be made with your September tuition
payment with a second $35 deposit due with your November tuition payment.
Costumes will be ordered the 1st of December, if deposits payments are not made then a costume will not be ordered for your dancer. The balance of Costume fees must paid in full by February 1st. If
you drop a class before costumes are ordered, your deposit will be refunded in full. If
you drop after costumes are ordered, you will lose your deposit and will be required to
pay the balance due on costumes.
GRANDE FINALE
The finale is a very important part of our show and we feel that this is important to the
students as well. This is the only time we get to see all of our dancers together. Finale
outfits can range from $15-$30. Order forms will be passed out in the fall and the spring.
VIDEO TAPING
Video taping during out recital is not allowed. The recital will be taped using professional
equipment and copies will be available at a reasonable cost. Still pictures are allowed
however no flash pictures will be permitted during the performance.
