ALL STAR RULES AND REGULATIONS - CHEER OR DANCE
Competitive Cheerleading is a team sport requiring regular attendance by all team members. Every cheerleader is expected to attend all practices, functions, performances and competitions. Dance classes are composed of dedicated dancers willing to learn and progress in their skills. OUR COMPETITIVE CHEER PROGRAM BEGINS IN JUNE AND RUNS THROUGH APRIL AND DURING THE SUMMER, TUMBLING AND STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING ARE INCORPORATED INTO THEIR PRACTICE.
ATTENDANCE: We expect all team members of cheer and dance to attend all scheduled practices on time. The following are obviously acceptable reasons for missing practice.
* Illness that is contagious or that kept child home from school
* Death in the family/funeral
* Mandatory school functions which effect an academic grade
* Church functions
UNEXCUSED: The following is a list of unexcused absences.
* Sickness that is not contagious.
* Injury (cheerleader can sit and watch)- Doctor's note REQUIRED for athlete to sit out.
* Other activities (including birthday parties, going to movies, shopping)
* Transportation problems --call the gym for ride
* Homework or tests --(please plan ahead)
* GROUNDING IS NOT A REASON FOR YOUR CHILD TO MISS PRACTICE. THIS IS A TEAM SPORT AND THIS ONLY HURTS THE TEAM AS A WHOLE. PLEASE FIND ANOTHER WAY OF DISCIPLINE.
We recognize that there are sometimes other legitimate reasons that a team member may need to miss a practice. We ask that a PARENT contact the coach as far in advance as possible to discuss the situation. If possible and on a case-by-case situation the coach will accommodate the request to miss practice. We believe that with adequate lead time and cooperation between coach and parents, we will be able to resolve potential conflicts.
United All Stars, L.L.C. is committed to fairness and excellence. If a team member's attendance begins to negatively impact the team, we will discuss this with the parents and take necessary actions per each situation.
Practices one week prior to an event/competition are EXTREMELY important to the building, peaking, timing and execution of a routine. Absences during this time frame may be met with position changes and/or removal of the athlete from the event. If a child misses the final 2 practices before a competition, this will result in the child NOT competing at the upcoming competition.
PRACTICE CHEER ATTIRE: Each outfit will be determined differently per what team the child is placed on. Competitive teams will have two practice outfits to be worn on certain designated practice days. Hair must be pulled back and up in a ponytail (off the shoulders), nails clipped, and NO JEWELRY! Students will not be allowed to participate with any jewelry in. Your child needs to come prepared for practice (we don't have time to put every child's hair up and clip their nails). NO GUM is allowed in any part of the gym!!!
PRACTICE DANCE ATTIRE: Required dance wear and dance shoes must be worn to all dance classes. No jeans, sweatshirts, street shoes, pajama bottoms, etc. will be allowed. Students not dressed correctly will be asked to not practice during the class time and simply observe the class for that night. Hair must be pulled up and out of the face. No jewelry unless it is included in the costume at a performance. Absolutely no gum in any class!!
COMPETITION DAY ATTIRE: ALL cheerleaders will compete in full uniform, including hair bow, briefs, socks, shoes and makeup. United All Stars warm-ups MUST be worn to and from events and before and after ALL competitions. We will look as good off the floor as we will on the mat representing United proudly!
DANCE RECITAL ATTIRE: The costumes and costume fee will be announced sometime in November. The costume fee must be paid in full before your child's costume will be ordered. Full dance costume will be worn at times of performance.
PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT
It is expected that parents and students alike will fulfill the mission of United All Stars, L.L.C.
and be a role model by using respectful and positive behavior.
" I agree to support my child and I understand they are expected to attend ALL competitions unless otherwise approved by the UAS coaches.
" I will show respect and serve as a GOOD role model for the UAS program, athletes and other fans and will avoid chronic complaining and will express concerns in a courteous and mature manner. I understand that there are NO STARS on the teams and that everyone is important on a team whether they be a base, front, back or flyer or dancer.
" I will serve as a beacon of GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP, conducting myself in a proper manner representing UAS. I further understand that my actions concerning poor sportsmanship or conducting myself in unbecoming behavior may effect my child's position on a team and risk my child being removed from a team immediately.
" I understand that it is not allowed for parents to be on the practice floor or in the dance studio at any time and if I need to speak with the coach, I will do it prior to or after practice or schedule a time to visit with staff with the UAS office. I also understand I will not be allowed to text or call my child's coach AND/OR Mindy until 48 hours after a practice. If I need to talk to a coach or Mindy about something with the team, I will set up an appointment with the UAS office to do so.
" I agree to cover all tuition and travel fees at the requested due dates understanding that if my child does not attend a competition and the due date has passed I am responsible for the fee whether my child goes or not. I also understand that cheer choreography camp is mandatory for competitive AND all star prep teams and if my child does not go to camp I still have to pay the camp fee as my child will be using the routine that was choreographed.
" I agree to get my child to all practices and performances on time and I understand that it is my responsibility to notify the coach if my child will be absent. Repeated occurrences of showing up late for competitions will jeopardize my child's position on the team understanding that this just creates chaos for the coaches and team members.
" I will avoid putting pressure on my child to fly, base and tumble or to be the star of the cheer team or dance team, realizing that each child is a star in their own unique way and every child is needed to make a team. I understand that all coaches' decisions are final.
" I further understand that if my child misses more than 2 unexcused practices that my child's position on the squad may be in jeopardy and if my child misses more than 4 unexcused practices my child will be removed from the competition team. All excused and unexcused must go through the coach.
" I will follow all financial obligations outlined on the tuition plan and understand that my child will be DROPPED from the team after 2 months if tuition has not been paid.
" I understand that if my child is 15 minutes late for practice it is considered an unexcused missed practice and that by missing the first part of the class my child is also missing a proper and necessary warm-up. Being late must be approved through the coach.
" I understand that my child is part of a cheer team and when they miss practice the other 4-5 students in their stunt group are also not able to practice and will do my best to get my child to practice for the benefit of the whole team. For dance, my child is part of a dance team and attendance is important for all members on the team.
" Tumbling is a HUGE part of competition cheerleading and is mandatory for ALL competitive cheerleaders to take with UAS staff. If a cheerleader chooses to tumble with another gym other than United All Stars they will be DROPPED from the competitive cheer team immediately with no refunds given on competition deposits or tuition. As coaches we need to be able to assess what level a child is at with their tumbling and if the child tumbles at another gym we have no idea what they are working on or being taught or even when they are ready to advance to the next level. It also causes great confusion for the child being taught two different ways. Each gym uses their own ideas and coaching tactics and at United we feel we offer a well-rounded progressive tumbling program. Children will progress in tumbling at all different levels and speed, no child is like another child in skills. Please respect your child's progression through their skills.
PLEASE GO OVER THIS WITH YOUR CHILD!
I understand and agree to support the mission of United All Stars, L.L.C.
I will attend all practices and performances.
I will notify my coach if I have a conflict with practice or performance.
I will come dressed and ready for practice in proper athletic gear, hair in a pony tail, no jewelry and my nails clipped.

I will commit myself to practicing on my own.
I will not use bad language, talk out of turn, or be disruptive at practices.

I understand that cheerleading and dance has many risks and I may get hurt.
I will put safety first, warming up, following instructions, for the safety of my teammates and myself.
I understand that if I am suspended from school for the use of alcohol, tobacco, or drugs, or if I am caught using them at any time when I am representing United All Stars, I will be suspended from the team and competition until the coach reinstates me, and it may result in a team change or position change.
I understand that if I miss 2 unexcused practices that I may lose my position on the team and if I miss 4 unexcused practices may be removed from the competition team.
I understand that being a team member of United All Stars, L.L.C. is a special privilege.

CHEER/DANCE COMPETITION FEES and CAMP PAYMENTS (Pertains only to competitive and all star prep cheer teams and competitive dance teams): We will have three separate competition payments with due dates and a choreography fee payment due date. With these payments we will be able to register the teams quicker and also not have the registration fees sitting on the UAS charge cards drawing interest. ** If the competitive payments are late there will be a $40 late fee added to the payment. All competition payments are NON-REFUNDABLE, this includes camp. Your child is expected to be at the choreography camp and if for some reason they cannot attend due to an emergency; THEY STILL have to pay for the camp! We pay the choreographer for the routine per child whether your child is there or not and the routine is used all year. Should you join UAS after the choreography camp, you will still have to pay for the camp as your child is using the routine.
DANCE COSTUMES: All dance costumes will be decided in November with payment due for the costumes before they are ordered.
