Upon enrollment I agree to provide current immunization records on WA. Dept. of Health CIS form to James' Place Child Development Center and provide updated records as needed.
Medical Emergencies & General Safety
At all times staff certified in pediatric CPR and First Aid are present in your child's classroom. Minor medical mishaps such as cuts, scrapes, and abrasions will be treated according to current Red Cross First Aid standards of practice. More severe medical situations in which there is excessive bleeding, possible head injury, possible broken bone or severe soft tissue injury will result in a phone call to the child's parents. In any medical emergency involving loss of consciousness or severe injury in which the child is unresponsive, 911 will be called and the child's parent informed.
Fire drills and emergency evacuation drills are held on a regular basis.
I give permission for the staff of James' Place Child Development Center to secure medical care for my child in case of a medical emergency.
Webcam Confidentiality
James' Place is equipped with web cams allowing the child's immediate family members to log on during the day and observe their child while in care. It is our policy that only immediate family members and/or grandparents have access to the webcam portal. I agree to abide by the policy of disclosing log on information only to immediate family members or grandparents and keep log in information strictly confidential. I understand that violation of this policy will result in loss of access to the parent webcam portal.
Use of child photo for promotional purposes
In our opinion the most effective advertisements for James' Place are to simply show images of the children in our care. With that in mind we would like to be able to use real time photos of enrolled children in promotional materials. No personal information will be released in any promotional material.
I give permission to use photos of my child in promotional information published by James' Place Child Development Center. I understand that no identifying information will accompany photo images of my child and all personal information will be held in the strictest confidence.
Outdoor Program
As recommended by the American Pediatric Association children are given the opportunity daily for vigorous, outdoor play. In addition to our safe, well equipped outdoor playground, the children may be taken on walks around the downtown Bellingham core or to a park or grassy area such at the Bellingham Public Library lawn. We utilize a 6 seat, tiered seat stroller for the smaller children. The older children walk. As part of our curriculum we use the Walking Field Trip Program to teach good citizenship, appropriate behavior in public places, safety in street crossings (use of crosswalks, look both ways for traffic, response to pedestrian signals, etc). Additionally we emphasize walking as a way to maintain fitness over a lifetime and a way to respect our planet and natural resources.
We ask for general permission for your child to participate in daily walks with the James' Place Daily Walks program.
I agree and grant permission for my child to participate in James' Place Child Development Center Daily Walks program.
Diversity Statement
James' Place is a culturally diverse environment where staff, children and families from multiple divergent backgrounds come together to experience the reality that we are all part of the family of humankind; further, regardless of homeland or individual belief system, people are more alike than different. Tolerance and respect for others is a fundamental value that permeates the culture of James' Place. Out of respect for these differences, James' Place does not engage in individual celebrations such as birthday parties, or celebrations associated with any particular culture or belief system.
The one exception is participation in the October, Downtown Bellingham 'Trick or Treat' event in which staff and children dress up in costume and join other Bellinghamsters visiting Downtown Bellingham merchants seeking Halloween treats. Sponsored by the Downtown Bellingham Merchant Association this is a community event that has become a James' Place tradition and is enjoyed by all. All children are included but participation is not mandatory.
Withdrawal/Schedule Change Policy
I agree to provide a minimum of 2 weeks notice of withdrawal or decrease of scheduled days. I agree to make full payment for the two weeks prior to withdrawal or decrease in scheduled days.
