Bullying, harassment, or intimidation are serious issues and will not be tolerated by any athlete, family member, or spectator. It is the policy of Motion Athletics to prohibit bullying, harassment or intimidation of any person at practice, class, gym/team event, or competitions. Such conduct is disruptive of the learning process and team-oriented environment. Therefore this policy is being put in place to help minimize and prevent such incidents from happening and bring awareness to this ever growing problem.
Bullying, harassment, or intimidation is a behavior that often happens over and over and may include verbal, non-verbal, physical, written, or electronic devices including cell phones, computers, and any type of social media that creates a hostile environment and interferes with the safety, opportunities, or performance of our athletes. These actions may also interfere with a child's physical or psychological well-being. It's everyone's responsibility to do what they can in order to stop bullying among children, teens, and young adults. It is also important that our athletes and parents/guardians are able to recognize bullying behavior and feel safe in reporting it.
If you feel you are a victim of bullying, harassment, or intimidation we strongly urge you to report it early so we can stop it before it escalates into a more serious issue with severe consequences. If an alleged bullying incident occurs and is proven to be true, actions will be taken immediately. If you are a victim, the parent/guardian of a victim, and wish to report an incident of alleged bullying, harassment, or intimidation, please contact Brittany Sterkel or Meghan Rathbun.
Examples of bullying are, but are not limited to:
Degrading, demeaning, discriminatory, insulting, or abusive verbal or written remarks, gestures, or actions against someone.
Letters, emails, instant messages, websites, phone calls, or use of social media with means to inflict harm or threaten someone.
Taking personal belongings, taunting, teasing, name-calling, put downs, constant nasty looks, breaking up friendships, intentionally leaving someone out of a group, or spreading rumors about someone.
Physical violence, threats of bodily harm, physical intimidation, stalking, or any other unwanted physical contact toward someone.
Any conduct that makes someone feel uncomfortable, intimidated, or physically and/or emotionally hurt. (Whether or not the person intended to harass and/or injure the victim).
Motion Athletics will not allow anyone to be bullied. If a child or parent/guardian behave in a manner that is considered to be bullying, harassing or intimidating the following actions will occur.
1st offense - If bully(ies) are willing to accept blame and apologize, a warning will be issued resulting in a possible suspension or community service work for the first offense at the discretion of the coaches/directors.
2nd offense - The bully(ies) will not be allowed to participate in the next competition and will have to meet with Coaches.
3rd offense - Permanent suspension, up to one season, from all Motion Athletics program and/or Blaze All-Star team will be justified. Permanent expulsion may be warranted. No refunds will be given.
*Motion Athletics staff will handle each case individually and make consequences based on the specific situation.
By signing and dating, I agree to comply with the Motion Athletics Bullying Policy.

Team Commitment & Policies
Cheerleading is a team sport and practice attendance is incredibly important to the success of our teams. Our practices are mandatory. As competition season nears, extra practices may be called. We will give plenty of notice regarding extra practice times and expect our athletes to be at all scheduled practices.
Athletes also must attend rehearsals, demos, competitions, and team events. It is imperative that team members arrive at all practices, competitions, or any other scheduled events on time. Punctuality is a MUST!!
We kindly ask that "Grounding" from team practices, or not allowing your athlete to attend/participate in scheduled team events, cannot be used as a form of punishment as this is detrimental to the entire team & not just one team member.
Although we expect and push our athletes to be at each and every practice, we also understand that it is inevitable and sometimes unavoidable for athletes to miss practice. To get an absence excused, coaches must receive a written note or email sent to info@MotionAthleticsCheer.com, 2 weeks prior to the absence. Whether or not an absence will be excused will be decided by the coaches and not all notified absences will be excused.
NO ABSENCES ARE PERMITTED THE WEEK OF A COMPETITION
If your athlete is sick, please notify us immediately. If athlete has attended school, we expect to see them at practice. If your athlete has a fever or is throwing up, they are not allowed at practice, in hopes to keep others from getting sick. If your athlete is sick a parent must call 586-2444 or email info@MotionAthleticsCheer.com by 3pm.
*UNEXCUSED ABSENCES: Homework, school dances, concerts, banquets, family functions, school/church social events, etc. Please take attendance as a priority as this is a crucial to the success of our teams!
Tardiness has been huge issue in the past. Please make sure athletes arrive 5 minutes early to practices so they can be fully ready. Athletes are considered late to practice if they are not on the practice floor ready to practice when your practice time BEGINS. This includes designated practice clothing, shoes on & tied tightly, hair tied up out of face, & no jewelry or chewing gum. Tardiness is subject to participation restrictions decided on by the Coach.
Blaze team members must wear their assigned team practice outfit to every practice. If an athlete is not dressed in their complete practice outfit, they may be subject to disciplinary action by the coaching staff. We are building responsible athletes! We encourage each athlete to have a practice bag left in cubbies with everything they need for practices.
GOSSIP will NOT be tolerated about other teammates. Negative actions & attitude may result in being removed from the team and assigned as an alternate, and possibly dismissal from the program. All athletes and parents will need to read and sign our BULLYING POLICY and abide by these rules at all times.
If you are injured, you are still required to attend all practices. In addition to not participating, a detailed doctor's note is required with instructions explaining what you are able to do at practice. We will have alternative workouts for injured athletes to be able to participate.
We ask parents staying longer than 5 minutes into practice to make sure you are upstairs waiting for your athlete. Please do not wait in the hallway by bathroom or the stairs, as we need to keep walkways clear. Athletes also need to be fully focused and not distracted by parents/siblings.
Profanity and abusive language will not be tolerated in or around the gym or at competitions.
Good sportsmanship, polite manners & a kind disposition will be shown by all Blaze team members, parents, family members & friends at all times.
Personal belongings should be left at home. Motion Athletics is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
Attempting to make contact with athletes, Yelling onto the floor, or enter the practice floor unless accompanied by a Motion Athletics staff member is NOT ALLOWED. This is extremely distracting to all involved! Parents and other guests may not stand, linger, or watch from the cubby/gated area near the entrance to the floor, or block any walkways, doorways, stairways. If you choose to stay and watch your athletes practice or class, you may do so from our upstairs viewing area. If our staff feels that practices are being affected by the presence of parents, they will be asked to leave until the end of your athletes practice and will likely make the decision to close all practices for a portion or the remainder of the season.
Respecting all Motion Athletics coaches, gym staff & volunteers, as well as all Recreation and Blaze athletes and families is expected from ALL parents and athletes. A parent's negative actions & attitude can result in their child's dismissal from the program.
Social Media Picture/Video Material Posts of Motion Athletics Blaze All-Star music, choreography, routines, stunts, etc. , as well as any Competition routines/performances on any websites, must agree with our code of conduct. Those who post any inappropriate material are subject to dismissal from the program. This includes, but is not limited to "Instagram", "FaceBook", "You Tube", etc. We welcome any photos, videos, testimonies, etc. to be sent to Info@Motion AthleticsCheer.com
