Placements
Class levels are by teacher placement. In order to maintain the high quality of our instruction, we place students according to their ability, not by age, outside activities or carpools. At the end of every school year we will post students' placements for the following summer and school year on Your Account page accessible on our website under the Parent Portal. Please understand that the Academy's syllabus is based on 7 levels. Students will spend 2 to 3 years in each level as they build a solid foundation of technique. We highly recommend that all students take ballet to increase the speed of their progress. All Level 3 ballet students and higher are required to take a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week.
Winter Progress Performance
*KAPA's Winter Progress Performance is your opportunity to experience your student's progress firsthand. This is a very informal, fun, onstage experience that the whole family can enjoy! All classes are included; however, individual participation is optional as it is the holiday season. There are no costumes, theatrical sets or specialized lighting for this performance. Students wear their class uniform. It is a great way for new dancers to get comfortable with being on stage!
Annual Spring Dance Recital
*Each June we end our season with our fully-staged, professional Annual Spring Dance Recital. We encourage, but do not require, participation.
*Recital date will be communicated on all venues when confirmed. Show times, specific show assignments, specific dress rehearsal times and days will be published to our "All Things Recital" site.
*Special requests to adjust rehearsal and recital times are accepted until April 1st. We attempt to accommodate every school's activities while meeting the technical demands of the show. Our priority is to prepare your dancer for the performance experience of a lifetime!
Costume Order/Exchanges
* All classes have a costume unless noted on the class schedule as a non-performance class.
* Recital costumes will be paid by automatic bank account debit or automatic credit card payment on November 1st and are not refundable after November 20th. Costumes are ordered over Thanksgiving break. Costumes will not be ordered unless payment is received in full.
* Students are measured for costumes in November and they will be delivered in Jan-May. If a costume does not fit, we are able to exchange within one week of receiving it at no cost to you, if it is returned in it's original packaging. After that week, there may be additional shipping/handling fees and/or limited availability.
