Annual Studio Registration
A non-refundable registration fee of $35 per student is due at time of registration. For summer camps a non-refundable deposit of $50 per camp is due at time of registration. The annual studio registration of $35 per student is processed every April as well.
Payment Policies
Tuition is billed on the 25th of each month, for the following month. Tuition is based on approximately 48 weeks of lessons year-round. The Studio is closed for four weeks each year: fall break, spring break and Christmas break. Each month's tuition will be the same whether there are five lessons that month or two. There are no refunds or credits for lessons missed.
PLEASE NOTE: Your first month, you will be billed TWICE. Yikes! Your first payment will cover the annual studio registration, books (if necessary) and tuition for that month. Your second payment will be processed on the 25th of the month which will cover your tuition for the following month.
Studio Showcase
This is our HUGE annual performance at the awe-inspiring Ikeda Theater. Generally held the first week of February, there is a Showcase fee for each student which includes the additional rehearsals, the concert shirt and pizza the night of the show. Truly an unforgettable highlight for every student.
In preparation for the Showcase performance, we have additional rehearsals prior to the show. These rehearsals are in addition to regular weekly lessons - kind of like an amazing, bonus master class!
Students are allowed to perform in Studio Showcase at the Ikeda ONLY if they are ready to be without constant parental supervision for a long day of rehearsal and performance the day of Showcase.
Showcase Jr.
Showcase Jr. is a unique opportunity for students 9 and under to experience performing with other musicians on a professional stage with lights and sound. ONLY students 9 and under are eligible for Showcase Jr. There is a fee for each student for Showcase Jr. which includes tickets, concert shirt and pizza/refreshments at the venue.
Students 9 and under are allowed to do both Showcase and Showcase Jr. IF they are capable of sitting by themselves or with a small group without their own parent present for a long day of rehearsal and performance. We do have many volunteers to watch and supervise the kids through the rehearsals and performance, but every student in Showcase needs to be somewhat self-sufficient.
Missed lessons and Make-ups
When you register you are paying for your child's place in class, NOT THEIR ATTENDANCE. If you are going to miss a lesson, we ask that you give us as much notice as possible. Your lesson time will be offered to other students as a make up.
We cannot be responsible for your child's attendance. We do not pro-rate, refund or carry forward fees for classes missed. We do not keep a tally of lessons missed. It is your responsibility to take advantage of the openings if you'd like to make up a missed lesson.
There is no limit to the number of opportunities you will have to make up a missed lesson, nor is there an expiration date. As long as you are an active student, you will always have chances to make up a missed lesson. We do NOT ask teachers to stay late, come in early or come in on days off to do makeups. You can ONLY make up a lesson when there is an opening due to a student absence. There are usually multiple opportunities every week for makeups.
If a teacher will miss a lesson, we will provide another teacher to make sure you can keep your lesson at the same time. In the case that another teacher is not available, you will be entitled to a makeup lesson at your convenience or a credit for the lesson missed.
Summer Schedule
Kirk's Studio operates as a year-round school. If you'll be gone for a week or two, we will reschedule those lessons or double up on the weeks that you are in town. We also offer Summer Immersion. This is a one-week, one hour per day private lesson with your instructor. Students may also continue with regular weekly lessons and do Summer Immersion as well. Students who don't take lessons during the summer will lose their day and time with their instructor. Students can also maintain their spot with their instructor by doing summer camps.
Summer Camps are also a good way to explore a new instrument or hone your skills with your existing instrument. We offer a wide variety of options.
Stopping lessons
If you decide to put lessons on hold or discontinue, you need to inform the studio by the 24th of the month and you will not be billed for the following month. If you inform the studio on the 25th or later, you will be billed for the following month. At that point, you have four options:
1. Take the lessons you've paid for.
2. Keep the credit on the books and which you can use upon your return.
3. Gift the lessons to a friend, family member or student in need.
4. Donate the lessons to our non-profit foundation Rhythm's House. You will receive a receipt for your tax-deductible gift.
The studio does not issue refunds for unused lessons.
