Information for the Home Swim Lessons
· When arriving on property please park in the driveway or on the street. There is a smaller 4 foot tall fence to enter the property. Please feel free to come in while you wait to be greeted. There is a shade canopy for you to sit and observe or you may wait in your car. Please do not leave the property itself while your child is participating in their lesson.
· The pool is treated with chlorine and the water is heated during the winter for the optimum comfort of every swimmer and is cleaned and tested for water safety throughout the day.
· Daily dress: Swimsuit, towel and Reef Safe Sunscreen or rashguard. Because sunscreen must be given time to dry it must be applied at least 15 minutes before entering the water, or it will provide NO protection from the sun… If your child has a rash guard please be sure it is fitted.
· If your child is not potty trained, we require a swim diaper to enter the pool. The diaper must be a Snug fitting reusable, or diapers made specifically for swimming for children 3 and under, while in swim class.
· Students with long hair must have it pulled back and secured or are encouraged to wear a swim cap. Goggles may be worn, although that is up to you and your child. Sometimes they are more distracting if not a really good pair of goggles.
· It’s not always easy to be brave when learning new things. Please support and praise your child, for their accomplishments in swim lessons.
Last but not least! If your child is used to wearing floaties I now ask that you hide them or donate them to another family while they are enrolled in lessons. I am the bad guy when I don't allow floaties at lessons. The reason why I am so against floaties is because they give your children a false confidence and put them in a vertical position. I teach them to get to safety or to starfish float in the even they need a breath of air! Floaties do not teach your child how to be independently safe in the water. Thank you.
